A delicious new addition to the South Yarra restaurant scene, our bar and restaurant offers an elegant ambience that captivates Melbourne's discerning, well-travelled palates.
A New Venture by Lucky Management Group
Mr L’s Bar & Restaurant is the latest venture located on Toorak Road in South Yarra, from Victoria's renowned hospitality team, Lucky Management Group. Led by chef and entrepreneur Lucky Thapliyal and his wife Sheena, this highly anticipated venue opened its doors in September to rave reviews, now offering a brunch, lunch and dinner service with 3 private function spaces available to hire.
Emma, a delighted customer, shared her thoughts: “We love the super stylish space. It feels warm and welcoming but sophisticated and glamorous at the same time. The alfresco atrium at the back is stunning! It’s South Yarra’s best kept secret. And the food…omg, it is so good.”
A Tribute to Melbourne's Dining Scene
Lucky and Sheena are thrilled to bring Mr L’s Bar & Restaurant to vibrant South Yarra in Melbourne, the undoubted foodie capital of Australia. “Mr L’s is our tribute to Melbourne’s dynamic dining scene, combining exceptional food and great service with an atmosphere that celebrates both classic and contemporary elements,” said Lucky.
Design and Ambience
Inspired by the allure of the Gatsby era, the luxurious design curated by Sheena integrates contemporary elements with a nod to the art deco glamour of the Twenties, setting a stylish stage for an unforgettable dining experience. “The essence of a great meal is about the love and care that goes into every dish. Cooking with the best local ingredients inspired by the Mediterranean, keeping it simple, delicious and relaxed is central to our approach,” says Lucky.
The Menu
At the heart of Mr L’s offerings is a menu that celebrates the rich tapestry of Mediterranean flavours and textures. Lucky emphasizes the warmth of sharing smaller dishes, with maximum flavours in a casual yet elevated way. “I love this style of eating. Tapas is a delightful way to enjoy a variety of flavours in one meal. Small plates of delicious food that can be served hot or cold and are perfect for sharing,” added Lucky.
Mr L’s chefs (from Spain and Ireland), cook dishes they grew up with, just like ‘Dad’s Spanish paella’, served straight from the pan every Sunday in the Atrium. Dining at Mr L’s is suitable for any time of day, whether you’re looking for a 'delicious ‘brunch on Toorak Road’ or ‘best restaurants in South Yarra’, our brunch, lunch and dinner menus tick all the boxes.
From braised leek and onion croquettes with wild sage to chargrilled king prawns with Calabrian butter and burnt lemon, and pork Sisig tacos with mango, cured egg yolk, and crackling, our dishes are a testament to culinary excellence. The lunch offering, exceptional value at around $28 per person, includes a glass of something lovely. Mr L’s will also be serving up brunch Friday-Sunday, which is a welcome offering to locals and visitors alike.
Complementing the Cuisine
Our thoughtfully curated drinks list features a diverse selection of wines and cocktails, perfectly paired with the Mediterranean flavours of our food. Mr L’s offers a happy hour including cocktail classics, available 5-7pm every Wednesday - Sunday, making Mr L’s your perfect South Yarra pit stop for after work drinks.

Open Wednesdays from 5pm – late, Thursdays for lunch (12-3pm), Friday-Sunday for brunch & lunch (10am-3pm) and for dinner/drinks from 5pm – late, Mr L’s Bar & Restaurant offers a stylish restaurant and bar area, a glamorous glass (all-weather) atrium with its own bar, crystal chandelier & bi-fold doors opening to a little outdoor courtyard. There’s also the newly opened private 20-seater dining room for exclusive gatherings and functions. With its luxurious yet warm atmosphere, Mr L’s is poised to become the perfect destination for intimate dinners and lively celebrations, already becoming a Toorak Road favourite for it’s South Yarra community.
